A villa once occupied by Gianni Versace has been sold by his family for 35 million euros (54.7 million dollars), according to the Corriere della Sera.
Villa Fontanelle on Lake Como is now the property of Russian real-estate tycoon Arkady Novikov.
Versace used to spend summers in the neoclassical styled villa playing host to his jet-set friends, Elton among them. The place also figured in last year's EJAF Academy Awards Viewing Party: One of the live auction's offerings was a 5-day stay at Fontanelle.
But following the designer's 1997 murder in Miami, the property has seldom been occupied by his heirs sister Donatella and brother Santo.
An exception was a party hosted to celebrate Jennifer Lopez's 2001 wedding to dancer Chris Judd. The couple also honeymooned in the villa.
