According to BBC 6 Music, Elton has revealed that he may not put out another album.
He said: "I don't know if I'm ever going to make another record again at the moment. I have no plans to do another album as such.
"I am so busy touring and doing shows and promoting musicals and producing films - I would like to make another record but I don’t know when or where or if I am gonna make one."
His last album, The Captain & The Kid, was released in 2006.
On the other hands, Elton's friend, Rod Stewart, still wants to go into the studio.
He says, "There is still this R+B album I want to do. There's a Country Western album I'd love to do, although the record company doesn't want it.
"We are still in the throes of talking about it. I very much doubt whether we will get it done this year."
EJW readers may recall that the 63-year-old has done a series of ''American Songbooks,'' the fourth of which featured the former Reg Dwight.
And indeed, Rod hopes to do a "fifth and final American Songbook."
