A Nottingham make-up artist was recently nominated for an Oscar.
The 57-year-old was at the ceremony for the first time after being nominated for his work on for The Young Victoria, along with colleague Jenny Shircore.
But the pair lost out to the make-up team on Star Trek.
Jon Henry Gordon spoke to the Post as he was on his way to Elton's soiree.
''We unfortunately didn't win, but the ceremony was fantastic," he said. "It was amazing. You just can't believe how many around you are stars. It\'s brilliant. Now we are leaving and going to Elton John's party. He voted for us because he liked our film and I\'ve got a friend who works for Elton so we met up last night and he said 'the boss has invited you.' ''
