Billy Elliot has cancelled its three opening previews, delaying the first performance (March 24) until the 31st of the month at London's Victoria Theatre, according to The Stage Online.
One reason is that Anne Rogers quit, afraid her role as the star's grandmother would be reduced as producers tried to cut a half hour from the production's running time.
She has now been replaced by TV and stage actress Ann Emery.
Another reason for the delay is that it gives the 45 youngsters in the musical more time to prepare.
The three cut performances have been rescheduled for April 14, 20 and 27. Press night is still set for May 11, with opening night May 12.
