Recently there has been talk of a a second Live Aid, although the organiser, Bob Geldof, has denied it.
But the May 17, 2005 Mirror reported that an event, dubbed Live 8, will indeed be aired by the BBC on July 2.
So far, Joss Stone, Paul MCartney, U2, Madonna, Robbie Williams, Oasis, Eminem, The Who and Elton are lined up. In fact, the latter may do a duet with the Scissor Sisters, with whom he recently recorded in Las Vegas (and who performed at February's post-Oscar soiree).
The shows would take place in Washington and London, and so far, the main problem is the chance that BBC workers will strike the day of the broadcast, protesting hundreds of jobs being cut.
Tickets will be sold within the next few weeks, with an official announcement expected on the 24th of May.
