Broadway.com reports that Hugh Panaro, currently starring in The Phantom of The Opera, is in negotations to play the lead in Lestat on the Great White Way.
The musical is expected in New York in the spring of 2006--after it premieres at San Francisco's Curran Theatre this winter.
Hugh has been in quite a few shows, among them The Red Shoes and Les Miserables. In Elton and Bernie Taupin's production, he would play Lestat de Lioncourt, who escapes an oppressive family only to have his life taken from him. Thrust into the world of an immortal vampire, he attempts to reconcile his innate sense of good with his primal need to exist.
