Elton to Get an Out-of-This-World Intro. Saturday

Friday 1 July 2005 @ 22:21 - GMT

The Daily Mirror has discovered that two of Little Britain's stars won't be introducing Elton at tomorrow's Live 8, as first announced.

Instead, a Russian cosmonaut will hail the musician with ''And now, my fellow Rocket Man,'' via a satellite link-up to the International Space Station, 250 miles above Earth.

Twenty years ago, Bob Geldof had tried to hook up with the Space Shuttle during Live Aid, but was unsuccessful because of technical problems. So getting the 46-year-old Sergei Krikalev, who has spent two years in Space, is particularly satisfying.

Jonathan Ross will be the host at Hyde Park, where Elton is expected to do The Bitch is Back and Saturday Night's (Alright For Fighting) before joining Pete Doherty for Children of The Revolution.

Below is the London schedule, although some of it could be changed, virtually at the last minute. . . .
