As usual, Elton has been keeping up with the latest cds, which he discusses in the October 2005 issue of Interview magazine.
His current favourite is ''British boy'' James Lidell, who sounds like Prince and Otis Redding on parts of the new Multiply album.
Other picks include the Irish rock band, Hal, who remind the Rocket Man of the Beach Boys; the country flavour of Beth Nielsen Chapman; ''old-school soul'' from Raul Midon, and electronic music on The Understanding from Norwegian duo Royksopp.
Elton also recalls what it was like when he started out. He appreciated that artists were ''nurtured,'' which, unfortunately, is no longer the case.
