Some time ago, EJW announced that Elton would be participating in a tribute to the late disc jockey, John Peel. According to the Evening Standard, he has contributed vocals and piano to a cover version of the Buzzcocks' Ever Fallen in Love.
David Gilmour from Pink Floyd plays guitar, while Peter Hook of New Order is on bass guitar. Other artists on the single include Roger Daltrey, Robert Plant, El Presidente, and Pete Shelley of the Buzzcocks.
The song will be played for the first time at 8:10 a.m., Monday, October 10, simultaneously broadcast on Radio 1, Radio 2, BBC Radio London, 6Music and all BBC regional stations across the UK.
Channel 4 will feature the video for the first time at 11:05 p.m., October 13, which has been designated John Peel Day.
The recording, featuring names which John championed or admired, will be released November 21, with proceeds going to Amnesty International.
John's son, Tom Ravenscroft, came up with the idea for the tribute, which Elton wholeheartedly approved of.
He said it is vital ''to remember people who encouraged and helped you in your career. The thing I loved about John was his passion for new music and his praise for things he totally believed in.''
