The Hollywood Foreign Press Association endorsed a thwarted romance between two cowboys on the morning of December 13, 2005 as it recognised Ang Lee's Brokeback Mountain with seven Golden Globe nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor (for Heath Ledger).

In addition, the best motion picture song lineup included  A Love That Will Never Grow Old from Brokeback Mountain, with music by Gustavo Santaolalla and lyrics by Bernie Taupin.

It's up against Christmas in Love from Christmas in Love, music by Tony Renis, words from Marva Jan Marrow; There's Nothing Like a Show on Broadway from The Producers, music and lyrics by Mel Brooks; Travelin' Thru from Transamerica, tune and lyrics by Dolly Parton; and Wunderkind from Narnia with music and lyrics by Alanis Morisette.

The winners will be announced January 16, 2006 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, and broadcast by NBC.
