The Grammy And New Pantheon Awards

Thursday 8 December 2005 @ 17:05 - GMT

On February 8 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the 48th annual Grammy Awards will be held, and three of the nominations should interest EJ fans.

Honky Chateau is up for Best Surround Sound Album, thanks to surround mix and mastering engineer Greg Penny.

B.B. King's 80, which includes a duet with Elton on Jimmy Rogers' Rock This House, is considered a contender for Best Traditional Blues Album.

And Rod Stewart's Thanks For The Memory . . . The Great American Songbook IV, featuring a duet of the Walter Donaldson/Gus Kahn-penned Makin' Whoopee is in the running for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.

What's more, Elton himself will be a judge at the inaugural New Pantheon Awards. As previously noted at this Web site, the honours were started by Shortlist Music Prize co-founder Tom Sarig.

They are to be presented in L.A. in early February--just before the Grammys.
