Elton was ''still standing'' last night at Absa Stadium, despite the rainy weather and a stomach bug which nearly floored him before the concert even started.
"I was still on a drip 15 minutes before the show started," he told a crowd of more than 20,000 rain-soaked, but enthusiastic fans who attended the Big Concerts event.
But, ever the professional and, of course, a trouper of note, Sir Elton delivered a show onearly two-and-half-hours long, which included hits like I'm Still Standing, Tiny Dancer, Crocodile Rock, Candle in The Wind and Your Song.
At least he didn't have to worry about electricity. Earlier that day, many residents experienced black-outs, but concert organisers pointed out that they were equipped with generators.
There will certainly be plenty of generators--14 in all--when Elton and his band played Tenerife on January 24.
Hundreds of lights are also expected to illuminate the golf course.
The show commences at 9 p.m.
