Elton is looking to whip up a little something special for his upcoming Face 2 Face tour with Billy Joel to make it more than just a greatest-hits outing. Returning to the concert trail together starting in the spring for the first time in six years, the two want to inject new music into the mix.

"We're thinking about recording three songs together," Elton told the Los Angeles Times. "Definitely not our own songs, or oldies, but we're interested in getting some people to write new songs for us. I've got Raphael Saddiq and Nile Rodgers working on something, so we're booking some time to go into the studio and record."

Of course, Elton also plans some dates without Billy. For instance, he is to perform in Norfolk next year, accompanied by his band.

The stately surroundings of Holkham Hall will form the backdrop when the icon plays for up to 16,000 fans.

The open-air concert will take place on Sunday, June 14, on the cricket ground in front of the historic hall near Wells.

It's sure to be a huge crowd-puller - more than 22,000 people filled Norwich City's Carrow Road stadium for the singer's 2005 concert.

Concert-goers are invited to bring a picnic blanket and enjoy an al fresco evening in the company of the Rocket Man and his amazing band as they perform on the historic cricket ground adjacent to the hall.

In a departure from his normal touring schedule, Elton will appear in a picnic-style setting with an early show which will finish by 9 p.m., allowing his audience plenty of time to get home.

The music-maker said: "There's something very special about playing at such a historic site. One feels very grand with a stately home as a backdrop! I love playing in Britain on a warm summers evening and having an enormous picnic under an open sky is the perfect way to start. We'll be pulling out all the stops to make it a fantastic show."

Tickets for Holkham will cost £60 and will go on sale on Friday at 9 a.m. There are a limited number of premium hospitality tickets.
