Elton has handpicked a Scots singer to support him in June.
The Mail has revealed that the icon is to play the SECC in Glasgow on June 10 in a gig billed as "The Only Scottish Show This Year."
Katie 'Pearl' Sutherland could not believe it when her band Pearl And The Puppets were invited to open for him.
Elton, who has a reputation for spotting new talent, snapped up her band for his management company, 21 Artists, whose roster includes James Blunt and Lily Allen.
Pearl said: "I got a call saying 'How would you like to play the SECC with your lovely friend Elton John?' "I let out such a scream my parents thought somebody had died."
The two entertainers first met at the 21 Artists staff Christmas party in 2008.
She recalled: "Elton said 'You must be Pearl' and kissed me. He knew my songs and later got me a support for Sugababes in London. After the gig he phoned to say he'd received loads of emails saying I was great.
"I admire Elton so much for what he's achieved.
"He's given me some great advice and been very supportive.
"When someone you look up to loves what you're doing, it's a nice feeling."
The 21-year-oldl admits she will be nervous when the lights go down at the SECC.
She revealed: My first SECC gig was going to Westlife when I was only 14.
"To think I'll be on that stage instead of sitting in the audience is amazing. It's a great opportunity."
Tickets for the concert - priced £50-£35 - go on sale on Wednesday at the SECC box office. The number to phone is 0844 395 4000.
