Elton is in talks to take Billy Elliot back to the big screen.

The pianist wrote the music for the theatre adaptation of the 2000 motion picture, which was written by Lee Hall and directed by Stephen Daldry.

Now the trio want to take the story about a young ballet dancer full circle by re-making the movie as a musical.

Speaking after Billy Elliot The Musical scooped ten Tony Awards on Sunday, Hall revealed, "We've been talking about making the musical back into a movie - but we'd have to think long and hard how to do it."

And earlier this year, producers of the Broadway hit partnered with Fidelity FutureStage to hold a playwriting contest for area high school students.

Young people were invited to write a 10-minute, one-act play reflecting one of the themes from the story of Billy Elliot: fulfilling a dream, discovering a special talent, or overcoming adversity.

One grand prize winner will have the opportunity to work directly with the Billy Elliot creative team to develop and produce their play, which will be performed live at the Fidelity FutureStage finale gala event on June 15, at the Imperial Theater, where Billy Elliot is currently playing an open-ended run.
