When Elton plays a Face 2 Face date in Chicago next month, he'll be receiving a custom vase, crafted by Kokomo Opalescent Glass.
Company Vice President of Distributor Sales Tom Giles told EJW the icon was originally supposed to acquire the present when he and Billy Joel performed in Indianapolis on May 19. A good customer of the business, a friend of Elton's, had requested the item, which he brought along to the concert.
Unfortunately, he arrived late and was unable to get to Elton.
''He gave it to security who accidentally gave it to Billy,'' Giles reported.
Since Joel fell in love with the vase, Elton was OK with him keeping it, and having Kokomo glass blowers create a new one for him. He requested a fuchsia version, which is to be hand-delivered in July.
Another project the concern is working on is an order of glass for Jonah Hex, a film based on an old comic strip.
Kokomo's products are used quite often on movie and television sets. In fact, the company, which was founded in 1888, is ''seen in every Disney Land and Disney World Park as well as many of their movies,'' noted Tom.
