Bernie Taupin has announced on his Web site that he and Elton shall return to the studio in mid-January to record a collaborative album with Leon Russell.
Russell, who has long been one of Eltons musical heroes, will be featured on a 50/50 basis, composing and performing his own material for the project as well as writing with both Elton and Bernie, and playing and singing on the pair's own songs.
A marathon writing session in Los Angeles last November saw the trio pen a vast wealth of material that ranges far and wide and covers many musical genres.
The sessions will be overseen and produced by Henry (T-Bone) Burnett.
Bernie has also updated his blog and mentions he has been a supporter of the L.A.-based Lange Foundation for years.
In fact, the lyricist is on the board of the foundation, which is dedicated to assisting abandoned and homeless pets.
