Promoters for Elton's concert in Dunedin, Capital C: Concerts, have made a finalist cut from over 50 entries in a nationwide search for an opening band this November.
Company CEO Phil Sprey says, ''Our judging panel have been overwhelmed with the number of entries and the quality of talent vying to play the new Forsyth Barr Stadium; now it is up to the voting public to decide who will perform in front of Elton and over 30 thousand people later this year.'
The 'OPEN 4 ELTON' promotion was designed to offer a unique opportunity to showcase new and upcoming New Zealand artists.
Sprey says, ''Selecting the final group was not easy and genre, level of experience and the entry quality and enthusiasm all counted.''
The Finalists are:
Mercury Crowe from Wellington.
Jonny Love from Auckland.
Katie Thompson from Hokitika.
Kaylee Bell, originly from Waimate, now residing in Sydney.
The public can vote online from today through Sunday, July 31, with top zone tickets on offer as prizes. To vote and for details visit www.classichits.co.nz.
