Last night, Elton (as seen below) played at Arena Riga in front of 10,300 spectators, where he expressed his delight at returning to the area.
He was onstage for nearly three hours, where the set list ranged from Candle in The Wind to The Bitch is Back. Three more recent numbers, from The Union, his collaborative album with Leon Russell, also were performed.
Inga Kadeka, director of the concert agency FBI, noted afterwards that Elton may be in his sixties, but his energetic performance showed he could still be called ''the Rocket Man.''
With this concert, Elton opened his tour in Eastern Europe. This evening he stops in Lithuania, then Russia, the Ukraine and Slovenia.
