The April 26 issue of Rolling Stone magazine contains a couple of photos of Elton at the Rainforest Fund benefit, held earlier this month. 'Songs From The Silver Screen' was the theme at the Carnegie Hall show, and featured performances of music from productions such as The Wizard of Oz, Dreamgirls, and Showboat. The opening number, sung by Elton, Sting, James Taylor and Meryl Streep, was If I Only Had a Brain. Streep donned a pair of ruby-red slippers, which the Rocket Man admired.
''I have two pairs just like them,'' he said with a laugh.
Elton is back in the Big Apple tonight for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation's annual Hot Pink Party at the Waldorf-Astoria.
The entire evening is dedicated to celebrating the late Evelyn Lauder and continuing her dream of a world free of breast cancer. Sir Elton returns to the event for a very special concert and promises to "Bring down the housefor Evelyn."
Elizabeth Hurley is the Emcee, and Larry Norton, MD, BCRF's Scientific Director, will speak.
