Jers Vision is proud to announce a collaboration with Sir Elton and the Alberta Ballet of Loves Lies Bleeding.

Alberta Ballet Artistic Director, Jean Grand-Maitre, brings this dance triumph, featuring Elton and Bernie Taupin's music,  to Alberta stages in Calgary (May 2-5) and Edmonton (May 10-12).

Jers Vision, Calgary Pride, and AltView team members will be at all shows selling commemorative Love Lies Bleeding buttons and collecting donations to fund the first youth-run Alberta conferences to tackle bullying, discrimination, homophobia, and transphobia. The team hopes to raise $8,000 so that they can engage over 800 youth in the conferences and regional workshop programming. The conferences will take place in Edmonton and Calgary in the 2012-2013 school year, and will especially focus on engaging rural youth communities.

Jean Grand-Maitre says he recently saw the rocker, who was pleased to learn they would be raising funds for Jer's Vision. Elton John did not want the ballet Love Lies Bleeding to be about his triumphs and his enormous success; he preferred that this ballet educate people on the destructive nature of sexual repression and how it lead him to addiction and to numerous suicide attempts. This ballet is a celebration of the extraordinary courage of all young people who assume their differences and who believe in diversity.

Outside Canada, many more people may get an opportunity to see Love Lies Bleeding.

Negotiations are in the works to take Love Lies Bleeding to Germany and Britain in 2013. And with sights set on future Love Lies Bleeding tours to the U.S. and Australia, Alberta Ballets executive director, Martin Bragg, envisions this made-in-Alberta pop ballet project leading to big ticket sales worldwide.

It could actually become a kind of Riverdance phenomenon, declares Bragg. One of the things I want to do, if I can get the green light from Eltons people, is that whenever Elton is not performing in Vegas, we just move the ballet in were probably not going to have six ballets going on in Vegas at the same time like Cirque du Soleil, but what I love about this province and this company is that we think big. And we have the potential to achieve stuff that has never been attempted before.
