Billy Elliot is extending its booking period to December 2013, with Harrison Dowzell today becoming the 30th lad to play the title role, since the show danced its way into the West End in 2005.
The 12-year-old from Nottinghamshire joins the existing quartet, Harris Beattie, Kaine Ward, Ryan Collinson and Adam Vesperman, to alternate in the role of the young boy from a northern mining town who goes against his expected path in life to follow his dream of becoming a ballet dancer.
On being awarded the part, Dowzell said: I was so happy I could have burst. When I first arrived in London I was a little nervous but within a couple of days I felt like I had been here for months. I am really excited about my first performance as Billy.
Billy Elliot The Musical, which releases an additional 640,000 tickets as a result of its extended booking period, stars Gillian Bevan, Deka Walmsley, Michael Peavoy and Ann Emery, who was the original 'Grandma' when the show opened at the Victoria Palace seven years ago.
