The Derry Journal revealed on September 13, 2002, that rock legends Bruce Springsteen and Elton John top an exclusive 'wanted list' of stars being tipped to perform in Derry in the near future.
The Northern Ireland newspaper learned that both stars are being touted as headliners for planned shows at the citys Prehen Playing Fields.
A source in the local entertainments industry told the newspaper that, following the success of Oasis and Bryan Adams shows, more big gigs were in the pipeline.
Prehen is now a top venue when it comes to hosting major stars, said the source. The feedback from the Oasis gig has been phenomenal and word travels fast on the entertainments grapevine. Derry is now on the map as far as major live performances go.
Bruce Springsteen and Elton John, revealed the source, top the wanted list of stars.
At the minute, Springsteen is the one theyre chasing. He has a proven track record of live performance and would definitely fill the Prehen venue.
Elton John, another major live performer, is also being touted for a future gig.
