WATFORD'S chairman, Graham Simpson, has written to former director Sir Elton John, asking him to help the club in "its hour of need".
The former chairman has come in for criticism for pulling out of Watford after the collapse of ITV Digital and just prior to the dismissal of manager Luca Vialli.
The new chairman said this week: "I would like to see it resolved. Yes I am aware there is some disappointment with Elton John at various levels. My view is he made his decision and no longer wanted to chair Watford Football Club any longer."
"Whatever his decision, nothing can take away what he has done in the past and, without his first input, we would not have achieved those great years we have all talked about. However, I would not be honest if I said to you I wasn't sad that he has decided not to help us at this stage in time. I have written to him and I am still hopeful of a reply".
