Watford FC manager Graham Taylor proved more valuable than his boss, club chairman Elton, in a recent auction of Spitting Image puppets, reported Watford Observer July 28, 2000. Taylor was ridiculed at the hands of the television satirical puppeteers in the 1990s while England soccer manager.
But his puppet fetched £1,472 - more than twice the expected price of £600. Elton also sold for more than his predicted £700, but his price tag of £1,141 could not match the Watford FC manager.
Taylor's price tag also attracted higher bids than pop stars Prince and Noel Gallagher, and composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.
