Billy Elliot was supposed to debut in the North of England on the 29th of November. But there are already several obstacles, according to Contactmusic.com.
Much of the problem is financial. Pre-production costs were higher than anticipated, and included a special school for the young actors.
Director Stephen Daldry, who doubts that they can afford to open at the Newcastle Opera House, calls it a shame. They had preferred the area because it's associated with the story. Now, though, it's ''looking dicey,'' he admits.
