EJW SPECIAL: New Creation From ''The Brickman'' Includes a Depiction of The Rocket Man

Written by Chief Editor.

Ryan McNaught is ''a LEGO Certified Professional,'' meaning he can be commissioned to build models out of LEGO bricks. He is one of just 13 people across the world who are certified professionals – but they are not employed by the LEGO Group, the company's press officer, Roar Rude Trangbaek has informed EJW.

One of Ryan's more popular creations was his LEGO Colosseum last year. It was exhibited at the University of Sydney's Nicholson Museum.

Now ''the Brickman'' is back with the LEGO Acropolis.

The artist says that the model, made of 120,000 bricks, took him about 300 hours to build. It displays the Acropolis both as it was in the fifth century BC and as it is today as one of Greece's most popular tourist attractions. Captured in LEGO are some of the Acropolis' famous visitors including Sir Elton (performing onstage), Pericles, Lord Elgin, and Dame Agatha Christie.

The free Nicholson exhibit also showcases Greek archaeological artefacts from the museum. Visiting hours are 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, as well as from noon until 4 p.m. the first Saturday of the month.

The pieces can be seen until June 21, 2014, while more information about Ryan is available at www.thebrickman.com.
