Dancers in Ireland Are Invited to Enter Contest For a Chance at Winning ''Billy Elliot'' Tickets

Written by Chief Editor.

The Bord Gáis Energy Theatre recently announced a nationwide dance competition to celebrate the Irish premiere season of the internationally acclaimed musical Billy Elliot.

Taking inspiration from the show's outstanding choreography and from the lead's inspirational story, the contest is calling on people from all over the country to share their own inspirations and passion for dance, culminating in a spectacular grand finale on Dublin’s Grand Canal Square.

In order to enter, dancers must record their own original routine to a song that captures the spirit of Billy Elliot and email a preview video - of no more than two minutes - to billydancecomp@bgetheatre.ie by Friday, May 6, at 5 p.m.

Each entry will then be judged by an expert panel of judges and five groups will be short-listed on Monday, May 9, to take part in the grand finale on Grand Canal Square.

The winners will be treated to tickets for their entire dance group to attend the Irish premiere of Billy Elliot the Musical at Bord Gáis Energy Theatre.

The show will open on July 26 and run through September 3.
