In late June Southern Alberta was devastated by unprecedented flooding.
Whether rural communities like High River, urban neighbourhoods in Calgary, or the southern Alberta First Nations, thousands of people have been affected.
In response, business leaders and the Province of Alberta are joining forces on August 4 with the Halo High Water Benefit Concert and Telethon. They will raise money for the Calgary Foundation's Flood Rebuilding Fund.
The star-studded evening will take place at the Southern Jubilee Auditorium in Calgary. For those unable to attend, the event will be broadcast on CBC TV and Radio and Aboriginal Peoples Television Network in conjunction with a telethon that will enable all Canadians to donate and support the people and communities impacted by the flooding. CBC Music will also broadcast on-demand video of the full show and individual artist's performances. The line-up will include a performance by Alberta Ballet's Love Lies Bleeding, set to the music of Elton and Bernie Taupin.
