Elton recently made an observation about when he tries to play new songs at his concerts.
He noticed it sends fans off to the toilet.
The 66-year-old, who has just released The Diving Board, admitted his frustration at people's reluctance to accept new material.
Elton esxplained that when he attempts to play a new number in a big arena, it's "usually met by a mass exodus to the toilet."
But Elton also commented that with such a successful career behind him, he feels a liberation at not being pressured to create more hits.
"I'm not going to get played on the radio," he said. "I'm not a chart artist any more and that's fine. It gives me the chance to do what I want to do."
