A Successful Evening For The EJAF

Written by Chief Editor.

Elton was joined by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Lisa Marie Presley, Billy Joel, Alec Baldwin and Courtney Love at last night's benefit for his AIDS charity at Cipriani Wall Street.

The event featured a live performance by Heart, an auction and an honour for Hillary Clinton recognising her work to help those affected by HIV and AIDS.

Elton was passionate throughout the evening, urging the attendees that there should be AIDS ''treatment for everyone, treatment for all.''

"We must never give up on anyone," he said, adding that those who want to help have to be "stubborn" when it comes to finding ways to assist those affected by the disease.

The event raised one million dollars through an anonymous donor and more funds through an auction, which included a lunch with CNN newsman Anderson Cooper and a one-hour tennis lesson with Novak Djokovic. Two different signed photos of Elton taken by Terry O'Neill went for 26,000 US dollars and 27,000 US dollars, respectively.

The Today Show's Matt Lauer was the host, filling in for Cooper, who was on assignment in Washington, D.C.
