The cast for Rocketman, a biopic about Sir Elton, has yet to be announced, but Tom Odell has expressed interest in taking part.
Tom would love to appear as the pop icon in the movie, although he's unsure about dyeing his blond hair to emulate Elton's distinctive ginger locks.
When asked about changing his hair colour for such a project, he said: ''Maybe, I'd have to mull on that for a little bit.''
The 22-year-old has become pals with his fellow piano player since they performed together at the iTunes Festival on October 12, performing Elton's Tiny Dancer.
Tom told BANG Showbiz: ''He's my all time idol, I think I'd almost count him as a friend now, he's very cool, he's very supportive and it's been very nice getting to know him.
''I've seen him a little bit, it's cool. He's a legend in every essence of the word, I can't even believe that those exist, it's very, very cool to be associated with someone that I look up to so much.''
Tom says that Elton also advised him to record with a live band in the studio, rather than to build his songs up part by part and use session musicians.
He added: ''He really likes what I'm doing with the band so he was like I should do a record with them and that's what I'm gonna do ... it's just nice to get that kind of confidence from someone.''
