Carter Center Auction Boasts a Variety of Unique Items And Experiences

Written by Chief Editor.

A mahogany four-poster bed designed by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and created by master furniture maker Andrew Reid is among more than 150 items to be auctioned on June 24 to benefit the not-for-profit Carter Center. Proceeds will support the center's work to advance peace and health across the globe.

There is a live auction as well as a silent one. The former includes a guitar signed by Elton.

The artist has written “With Love, Elton John” on the body of the Fender acoustic guitar. Along with the instrument, there's a Chromacast gig bag and an auction certificate.

President Carter and his wife, former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, will join invited friends and supporters for the auction and other activities during a four-day retreat June 21-25 near Lake Tahoe, California. But anyone can take part in the auction by bidding online or by fax or proxy.

Other options for bidders include a chance to win a one-week escape to a private villa on the banks of the Ayung River in Bali, Indonesia or National Geographic expedition to the Galapagos Islands; the opportunity to purchase a collection of mementos from George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch or to buy Yoko Ono's autographed silkscreen called Imagine Peace; and a chance to bid on a private Peter Yarrow concert.
