In July 1974, a gold record was awarded to Elton for Caribou, his fourth chart-topping album in the U.S.

The LP was recorded at Caribou Ranch, the legendary recording complex near Nederland, Colorado.

In related news, the Colorado Music Hall of Fame will be holding a concert, dubbed The Rocky Mountain Way, on August 13, at Fiddler's Green in Greenwood Village. During the event, the Caribou Ranch recording studio will be inducted. Besides Elton, the establishment attracted artists such as the Beach Boys, Frank Zappa, Chicago, Stephen Stills and Michael Jackson.

Also being inducted are Joe Walsh with Barnstorm, and the late Dan Fogelberg.

The show will feature performances from music-makers including Garth Brooks; Amy Grant and Vince Gill;  the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band; Richie Furay; Randy Owen of Alabama; Todd Park Mohr; Michael Martin Murphey; Big Head Todd & The Monsters; and surprise guests. Walsh will also reunite with his Caribou recording band Barnstorm for the performance.
