Elton John: The Nation's Favourite Song will premiere in the States on Saturday, January 27, at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT).

Having performed for half a century and counting the Rocket Man has played more than 4,000 concerts in 80 countries, and sold upwards of 300 million records. The documentary celebrates some of Elton's career highlights, as the pop luminary himself describes the inspirations and fascinating real stories behind his 20 greatest songs as voted on by fans.

Elton John: The Nation's Favourite Song mixes rich archive footage and home videos with newer interviews to paint a picture of the incredibly dynamic man behind the music. The former Reg Dwight shares stories about his trademark outrageous wardrobe choices and details his 50-year working relationship with lyricist Bernie Taupin in addition to discussing his many collaborations, including those with Kiki Dee and the late George Michael. There are also interviews with notables who Elton has worked with or inspired throughout the years including Ed Sheeran, Sharon Osbourne, James Corden, Annie Lennox, Lionel Richie, Rod Stewart, Sting, Chris Martin, Billy Joel, James Bay, Quincy Jones, Boy George, Dionne Warwick, and Rob Lowe.

The broadcast originally aired on ITV in November, part of the channel's regular music countdown series.

‎Universal Music Catalogue's Co-Managing Director Richard Hinkley. said back then:

“There are very few music programmes that reach a wide audience. “The Nation’s Favourite on ITV is one of those.”
