Rocker Shares Thoughts About ''MeToo'' And Weinstein

Elton says he’s a supporter of the MeToo movement, but doesn’t agree with people being “accused of something and not having due process.”

Speaking to CNN last week, the musician urged viewers to remain open-minded when dealing with sex assault accusations in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal.

“We live in a funny time, a disturbing time at the moment, when people are accusing people of doing this and that,” he said.

“I don’t agree with people being accused of something and not having due process, I think that’s bad,” Elton added. “I think people who have been accused of something shouldn’t be dropped from a television series until they are proved to be guilty. But on the other hand, I can understand how women have been abused since time began.”

A number of TV personalities have been given the boot in recent months, including Kevin Spacey, after being accused of harassment and sexual assault.

“It’s all happened because of Harvey Weinstein, and quite rightly so,” remarked the composer.
