''Icons & Idols: Rock 'N' Roll'' Auction is Next Week

Written by Chief Editor.

Julien's Auctions is proud to present Icons & Idols: Rock 'N' Roll, taking place in Beverly Hills and live online at their Web site on the first and second of December. Nearly 900 items are being offered, with Elton; Little Richard; Jimi Hendrix; Elvis Presley; and Madonna among the artists being represented.

In the case of Elton, this includes a couple of posters. One, with a shot of the Rocket Man, advertises the Midsummer Music concert at Wembley Stadium on June 21, 1975. He performed at the event, as did names like the Beach Boys, the Eagles, and Rufus with Chaka Khan. There's also an MCA promotional poster for the songster depicting the album artwork for several of his albums with the catalog numbers underneath (Caribou is listed as ''soon to be released'').

Another lot consists of an RIAA-certified ''gold'' record award presented to music executive John David Kalodner to commemorate the sale of over 500,000 copies of Geffen Records' release, Too Low For Zero.

Those seeking custom-made clothing have a couple of options: a Kenneth King waistcoat with embroidery and bead decoration, and a red, yellow, green, and blue Mr Freedom jumpsuit. The latter was worn by Elton during his 1970 U.S. tour. The headliner commissioned the owner of Mr Freedom, Tommy Roberts, to design several outfits for that tour. It's accompanied by a photograph of Elton wearing the jumpsuit.

Some other lots in the auction will benefit the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund. This includes a collection of vintage tour jackets representing artists ranging from Elton to Kenny Rogers.
