A block of low-priced, behind-the-stage tickets for Elton's concert at the New Orleans Arena on March 21 will go on sale January 24 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster. These so-called “choir seats” – they are located behind and above the “altar” of the stage – are priced at $19 plus service charges.
Around 1,500 “choir seats” will go on sale.
The rest of the arena is close to completely sold out. According to the Times-Picayune, a Jan. 17 search on Ticketmaster for the "best available" seats turned up a pair of tickets in row 16 of section 320, which is above a back corner of the stage. Those tickets were $47.85 apiece.
John’s stage doesn’t have a backdrop, so fans seated in the “choir seats” will be able to see the stage. The view will mostly consist of the musicians’ backs, although the songster’s piano is generally turned sideways on the stage.
"The overwhelming fan response for Elton John's March 21 concert at the New Orleans Arena is a great confirmation of Elton's legacy as one of the world's truly beloved entertainers,” said the venue's general manager, Alan Freeman. “We are thrilled to learn that Elton's management and promoter have endeavored to provide additional seats for this show, the ‘Choir Seats.’ These seats are very close to the stage and will provide some of the best viewing perspectives for the concert.”
